3 Day Tour – Taste of Wales

The Taste of Wales Tour captures the best of the National Parks in Wales, covering Snowdonia, the Pembrokeshire Coast and the Brecon Beacons. This 3 day tour of Wales takes you through three National Parks which cover approximately a fifth of the area of Wales and with this tour we spend extensive touring days covering the best highlights of each National Park. During your tour with us across the three National Park areas, there will be many photo stops that we will make amongst the breath-taking scenic landscapes. The Snowdonia National Park is located in the North of Wales and is the largest and most mountainous of the three National Parks in Wales. It covers an area of 827 square miles and features the tallest mountain in Wales – Mount Snowdon. The area is steeped in culture and history and it is in this region that you will find Welsh spoken more widely than any other part of Wales. The Pembrokeshire Coastline is not what you would usually expect from a National Park. It’s unique in the fact that it’s the only one that exists on the coast of Wales. It’s also our smallest of the three National Parks covering roughly 186 miles of coastline and it never stretches more than 10 miles inland from the sea. The coastline itself offers some of the wildest scenery in Britain featuring a variety of stunning landscapes, backed by rolling hills, sea cliffs, scenic estuaries and beautiful beaches. The third National Park of our Taste of Wales Tour is in the South of Wales and is known as the Brecon Beacons. Stretching from Hay-on-Wye in the east to Llandeilo in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park covers an area of 520 square miles and includes four ranges of mountains; the Black Mountains in the east, the Central Beacons with Pen-y-Fan being the highest point, Fforest Fawr and the Black Mountain (Mynydd Du) sitting out to the west of the National Park. Our touring day through the Brecon Beacons picks up some of the best scenic landscapes, featuring rolling countryside, wild moorlands, forests, lakes and reservoirs with plenty of photo opportunities.

The day also features some medieval history with a visit to one of the most scenic and remote castles in Wales, along with a visit to a fortified manor house.  We’ll step further back in time to discover life living on a Crannog.  One of the highlights of the day is visiting the second hand bookshop capital of the world, Hay-on-Wye.

Afterwards, we’ll get to tour you on old ancient single track roads literally just wide enough for our vehicle to fit and you are rewarded with touring along the highest road in Wales, where we are amongst the most stunning rolling countryside and towered by the border Black Mountains of Wales.  As we descend from the heights we tour along the Vale (valley) of Ewyas, which features a beautiful picturesque chapel, a ruined Augustinian Priory and the leaning medieval church.  The day is rounded off with an optional stop at the oldest inn in Wales before dropping off at your chosen accommodation for the evening.

Tour Testimonial and Endorsement

“Awestruck Tour of Wales!”

Our group of four was consistently awestruck during our tour of Wales hosted by guide/owner John Hadwin from Boutique Tours.

Starting from the planning process, John provided much information and many options geared to our particular interests, which for us was being active, with walks in beautiful places, along with some history and culture thrown in. Oh, and most importantly we wanted to go where the tour buses did not go! And still we were not prepared for the unmatched, unsung beauty of Wales.

John is professional and personable. He arrived on the first day with a detailed map, based on the many emails and conversations we had previously, then he was flexible to adapt as we went along to be sure we got the very most out of our trip. It quickly became very clear how knowledgeable John is about the history, culture, geography and food of Wales.

Whatever your particular interest is, John can tailor the trip to exactly what you treasure most. Thanks to John and Boutique Tours we experienced an unexpected jewel of landscapes, people and cuisine.
