Our Discover Snowdonia Tour takes you through a variety of glacial valleys and mountain passes, driving along the most beautiful picturesque roads, some of which are the old drover routes and touring on the most scenic road in Wales, as we climb up and around Mount Snowdon.
We will also show you the very best places from historic Welsh castles, pretty riverside villages, scenic lakes, streams, waterfalls and mountain passes. We will also take you to visit the UNESCO slate mine landscapes and we can even include a short walk or two during your touring day to help you capture the real atmosphere of the Snowdonia National Park.
We tour a beautiful glacial valley along a trail that was originally laid down by the Romans. There are several stops for photographs and even a chance to take a short walk amongst the most magnificent scenery of the Snowdonia National Park.
We drive out to an elevation on the slate mountain for our second short walk of the day. Here you will get to witness the harsh conditions of working life on the side of the mountain, whilst taking in some of the best scenic landscapes of the whole touring day. This short walk is around 45 minutes in duration and is fairly gentle in the slope, walking on cut rock tracks, with uneven surfaces.
A unique building with a very interesting folk legend and an ideal place to stop for tea/coffee and some delicious home baked scones or Welsh Cakes or even Bara Brith!
Enjoy one of the most scenic and stunning waterfalls in Wales.

A lovely Victorian Spa town, where you can discover a 14th century medieval church hidden in the woods, nestling beside a scenic river.
A scenic photo stop at the ancestral home to the last true Prince of Wales – Llewellyn the Great. There is an option to consider walking up to the remote castle site, walking along an old ancient Roman road. PLEASE NOTE: There are restrictive opening times for the main castle tower and this maybe closed during a visit to the site.
Formerly the slate capital of Wales, famous as being the town that roofed the world. You’ll witness the small terrace homes of the close-knit Welsh community.
There is an opportunity to take a walk into one of the more remote slate communities – one of our hidden gems of touring this region, where beauty and tranquillity meets Victorian industrial enterprise
Take a ride on one of the ‘Great Little Steam Trains of Wales’ operated by the oldest railway company in the world! Starting amidst the slate tips that signal its historic industrial past; the Quarryman train journey follows the path of the old slate trains as they transported their loaded wagons to the harbour at Porthmadog. We believe that highlighting our heritage and providing visitors with an insight into our rich history is particularly important, and we are proud to be part of the UNESCO Slate Landscape of North Wales World Heritage Site.
There’s a choice to ride for 30 minutes or ride the full track down to Porthmadog, which takes approximately one hour and 15 minutes. *Train tickets must be pre booked and are subject to availability. Please check with us about the relevant train times that we can rendezvous with on the day of your tour
One of the prettiest villages in Wales, where we set you down for a stunning riverside walk. The village is set amongst some of the most majestic scenery that Wales has to offer. Located where two rivers meet, the village features a cluster of miner’s stone cottages. Learn about the legend of ‘Great Prince of Wales’ who used to hunt in the area and you can get to sample some of the best ice cream in all of Wales at the local parlour in the village
Our tour continues from Beddgelert along one of the most scenic roads in Wales, where we pass lakes and small streams and we stop for some great photos of this area of Snowdonia. You will learn about some of our great legends and myths as we drive through the mountain passes.
We stop on an elevated platform to view the highest Mountain in Wales at 3,560 feet above sea level (subject to visibility on the day). The landscape of mountain and glacial valleys is a photographer’s paradise and its here you will learn about some of the famous blockbuster movies that have been shot in this region.
Guarding the entrance to the mountains, Dolbadarn Castle was one of the key castles built by the Welsh Princes’s of Gwynedd to defend their kingdom. The setting is spectacular, overlooking two glacial lakes and sitting at the foot of the lower slopes of Mount Snowdon. Please note: To access the castle site involves a climb up a very steep grass embankment along with uneven steps, cut into the rock face. The site is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.
The National Slate Museum is currently closed for redevelopment during 2025.
Alternative options are to visit the Quarrymen’s Hospital or take a drive high into the Dinorwic mountain to walk out onto the UNESCO Slate landscapes for the amazing views
Enjoy this stunning lakeside setting with the ‘Sword in the Stone’. We have many Arthurian legends in the mountains and the Sword in Stone provides a link to one of the great legends of Excalibur being thrown back to the lady of the lake!
A beautiful glacial lakeside setting, which we call ‘the secret view of Snowdonia’ as it is out of sight to the majority of visitors to the National Park, who pass nearby using the two main roads and this view is out of sight as they travel past!

We tour through the UNESCO slate landscapes, passing through several small remote villages, where life was simple and homes were very basic. Learn of stories of hardship, loyalty and life working for the industrial lords – owners of the great slate quarries.
Snowdon Mountain Railway: Take the easy way up to the summit. On a beautiful day, this has to be one of the most spectacular railway journeys in the world! You will need to allow 3 hours of your touring day to include this railway option. The trains journey is an hour each way, with 30 minutes at the summit and offers you a spectacular 360-degree panorama of the beautiful National Park. (Trains operate from mid-May up until the end of October (weather permitting).
