This was the highlight of our 16 day trip in the British Isles and Wales is as breathtakingly beautiful as you see in all the pictures on the Boutique Tours website. John is so knowledgeable about the area and about the Caernarfon Castle, which has an amazing history.
The van is custom made and very comfortable for six passengers. Because it is a van and not a huge tour bus, John was able to take us places that very few people would ever get to see. If you have the opportunity to take this tour, don’t hesitate. It is well worth every penny and we thought was an excellent value compared to Viking Cruise Lines excursions offered to us.
We have never had a better tour or guide in all our extensive travels. John was fun, knowledgeable, and just a joy to be with. His pride in his country was very evident. First off, let me thank John, the owner and tour guide. I gave him an idea what we wanted to do and he did the rest. Organizing a decent sized tour for 13 people means a lot on your shoulders, but he delivered big time!
We stepped ashore at Holyhead and for the next 8 hours or so, we let John show us around him “home”, Wales. He couldn’t have been a better or more gracious host! John mixed enough history, food, shopping, scenery, and stories that our group wouldn’t have cared if the tour lasted another 8 hours, it was that good. Do yourself a favor, organize a private tour with John. You will not regret it.

We had an amazing day with John! He had great communication with us prior to us getting off the cruise ship, and he was there to meet us when we docked in Liverpool. He was informative, passionate and fun as we travelled to visit Conwy Castle and the Snowdonia National Park. It was lovely to spend the day with someone local who gave us great perspectives. When you book a cruise excursion months ahead and based on reviews only, you wonder if it will compare to what you read. You will not be disappointed. John is an excellent tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Wales and so really enriched our tour of Caernarfon castle.
During all our tour he had information to give us that enhanced what we were seeing and taught us so much about Wales and life there. The places we visited were not those you would see on a bus tour but ones that gave you a much more intimate vision of what Wales is really like, We were so lucky to have John as a our guide to introduce us to the beauty of Wales and the Welsh people.

John was a fantastic tour guide. He was waiting for us when we departed the ship in Holyhead with a new, spotless van. He is a native of the area, so he knew all the hidden gems to visit. He also is very knowledgeable about history so was able to fill us in on a lot of historical details. We walked the ancient walls of Conway but also got off the beaten path, visiting a slate mine, a beautiful waterfall, an historic old church, walking though a farm and rope bridge. We also had a fantastic lunch at a quaint little pub. Would highly recommend especially if you are a history buff.
