Medieval Castle Tours of Wales
THE MEDIEVAL WALLED TOWN OF CONWY

Enjoy a walk around the medieval town walls of Conwy, claimed to be the best preserved in Europe. Stretching almost uninterrupted around the town, they run for three quarters of a mile and feature 21 towers and 3 original gateways.

CONWY CASTLE

There isn’t a better place in Britain to stand on the battlements of a castle. Conwy offers unrivalled views overlooking the estuary and having a landscape backdrop of the Snowdonia Hills. We think it’s one of the most magnificent medieval fortresses to be found anywhere in Europe, going back to 13th century.
*Entrance fee applies.

CELTIC POTTERY

Hidden in the woods there is a lovely home built cottage renovated by the potter and her husband.  Rated as one of the best private potteries in Wales, the owner produces a very distinct style of pottery and features a very interesting studio displaying the various wares.

TREFRIW WOOLLEN MILL

A family owned woollen mill that makes traditional Welsh ‘Tapestry’ bedspreads. We tour you through the mill with the story of Wool. We will guide you through the process for creating wool as a textile, through the weaving techniques used on the mills own dobcross looms. The whole mill is powered simply from the water of a nearby stream that flows down from the hills above the village

LLANWRST

The famous chocolate box photo stop with one of the most photographed buildings in Wales. The former 15th century medieval courthouse is situated on the banks of the river Conwy and nestles beside a 400 year old three arched bridge, which crosses the river Conwy

BETWS-Y-COED

A picturesque Victorian spa resort town set between two rivers, where we will introduce you to the local culture of Wales. Discover the 14th century church hidden in the woods, nestling beside the scenic river Conwy. Or maybe choose to spend some time browsing the local shops.

SWALLOW FALLS

One of the finest cascading waterfalls in Wales. Set amongst picturesque woodlands, the waterfalls can be viewed and photographed at the top level, as well as descending into the gorge below.
*Entrance fee applies.

THE UGLY HOUSE

A unique building with a very interesting folk legend and an interesting place to stop for tea/coffee and some delicious home made scones or even a Welsh Afternoon Tea.  Another house speciality features a ‘Taste of Wales’ with a ‘Welsh Rarebit’.

SNOWDONIA NATIONAL PARK

Enjoy the beauty of the mountains and valleys, with their stunning lakes. Our route takes us through a former glacial field, as we tour through three different mountain passes and along the most scenic road in Wales, to view the summit of Mount Snowdon (distant views – subject to visibility), with one of the most stunning valleys in Wales.

MOUNT SNOWDON VIEWPOINT

We stop on an elevated platform to view the highest Mountain in Wales at 3,560 feet above sea level. The landscape of mountain and glacial valleys is a photographer’s paradise

UNESCO SLATE MOUNTAIN LANDSCAPES

We drive out to an elevation on the slate mountain for our second short walk of the day. Here you will get to witness the harsh conditions of working life on the side of the mountain, whilst taking in some of the best scenic landscapes of the whole touring day.  This short walk is around 45 minutes in duration and is fairly gentle in the slope, walking on cut rock tracks, with uneven surfaces.

CAERNARFON CASTLE

We stop briefly to photo the royal UNESCO medieval castle, where Prince Charles was invested as the Prince of Wales in 1969.  Caernarfon Castle is a brute of a fortress. King Edward 1st created what is, without a doubt, one of the most impressive castles in Wales
