Quite often, international visitors miss out on the Southern region of Snowdonia, yet it is every bit as stunning as the Northern area of the National Park. It is also in this region that you witness the best coastal scenery of the National Park.
Snowdonia (Eryri) is a land of myth and legends, from the true Welsh Princes, to dragons, giants and King Arthur. We get to tour you on some spectacular single track roads, using ancient drovers tracks through the hills where you get to discover the real Wales. It’s in these very mountains that the great Arthurian legends and myths are embedded in our history, with a choice of going underground to learn of theses great tales.
Hidden in the hills are one of our featured short walks, along an ancient Roman road and down on the coast, the walk across the Mawddach estuary captures the atmosphere of Southern Snowdonia with its varied scenic landscapes.
Bala is the entrance to Snowdonia from the east. Nearby is Mary Jones World – the church of the Bible society in Great Britain. Llyn Tegid is an expansive lake sandwiched between Eryri (Snowdonia) and the Berwyn mountains, overlooked by its own mini-massif: the Arenig mountains. It’s the biggest natural lake in Wales, measuring around 4½ miles in length.
Our drive is one of our great ;hidden gems’ of touring this spectacular region, as we climb out of the valley floor and along real back roads and off the tourism track. We take you amongst the real destination that is Wales with rolling green pastures and mountains. We tour along old drover roads, through a hidden mountain pass, where the scenery and landscapes do the talking. It truly is an experience where you are touring without the crowds, to an area that other tour guides and drivers don’t know and the bigger tour vuses can’t go or reach.
Set sail underground through a magical waterfall with a Dark Age Boatman, who then guides you through the vast underground caverns and winding tunnels of the Labyrinth. It’s here that the ancient Welsh legends come alive with dramatic scenes, lights and sound. There are stories of dragons, giants, mighty battles and the legendary leader of the Britons King Arthur himself. *Entrance fee applies

A remote and isolated castle of the Welsh Princess of Gwynedd, hidden in a valley guarding the entrance to Southern Snowdonia. The site was developed in the 1220’s by Llywelyn the Great. The castle was intended to maintain his authority over the local people and to defend the south-west part of the kingdom of Gwynedd.
A beautiful market town standing in the shadows of Cadair Idris, the second highest mountain in Wales. The town is famous for over 200 listed buildings constructed from the beautiful slate stone of the region. Some of the most elegant houses date back to Dolgellau’s time as a regional centre for the Welsh woollen industry.
Enjoy a stunning off track drive below Cadair Idris, where we drop you down to walk along the old Roman Road. You can set the distance of 1 to 2 miles to walk to our rendezvous point. We are some 800 feet above sea level, where we go onto witness the most magnificent coastal views overlooking the beautiful Mawddach Estuary across to Barmouth .
A ‘must do’ is the walk of around one mile across the Barmouth Bridge, crossing the river Mawddach. The bridge is a Grade II* listed single-track wooden railway viaduct stretching 820 metres between Morfa Mawddach and Barmouth stations. It is the longest timber viaduct in Wales and is synonymous with its outstanding views of the hills and mountains.
The drive between the Mawddach Estuary at Barmouth, heading North towards the Dwyryd estuary is a scenic coastal delight. Passing through small villages and lush farmland, with ocean panoramas.
A Victorian resort town with sandy beaches, nestled at the mouth of the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, providing spectacular views of the coast and the mountains. There are plenty of places to eat and you might want to take time browsing the shops.
A unique historic church as literally it is buried amongst the sand dunes. The current building is medieval, but the church’s history goes back much further to around the 5th century. It’s legacy is claimed to be part of a network of cells created by St Patrick to establish links between Great Britain and Ireland.

Set on a scenic peninsula overlooking the River Dwyryd’s estuary. Portmeirion is a village built by the vision of a local architect with a unique collection of salvaged ruined buildings from many different parts of the country and re-assembled with an Italian-influence that sets a scene similar to those found on Italy’s Mediterranean coast such as Portofino.
*Entrance fee is payable at the gatehouse
